Frequently asked questions

Everything DJs ask before their first sync: how matching works, what happens on a miss, account safety, privacy, and billing.

Do I need a Spotify account?
No. You can paste a Spotify playlist link, paste a list of "Artist - Track" lines, or bring tracks in via .m3u, .m3u8, or .csv files (rekordbox, Serato, Music.app, and Engine DJ all export these). Connecting a Spotify account is optional and just saves you the copy step.
Where do my playlists end up?
Each matched track gets added to your Beatport cart or Bandcamp wishlist on the respective platform. You review and complete the purchase there. Muvic never charges you for the music itself.
What if Muvic can't find a track?
Unfound tracks stay flagged in your sync results. With Pro, Muvic can automatically fall back to the other platform (Bandcamp ↔ Beatport) on misses, or save the unfound list to a new playlist so you can revisit them later.
How does the Library work?
Muvic tracks every track you've synced (across both Beatport and Bandcamp) with the artist, title, album, date, and spend per platform. Search your collection, filter by platform, confirm purchases track by track, and export to CSV or JSON. Available on Pro.
Will using Muvic get my Beatport or Bandcamp account banned?
Muvic signs in as you and behaves the way you would: it searches, opens track pages, and adds items to your cart or wishlist one track at a time, at a human pace. It never scrapes catalogs, never downloads anything, and never completes a purchase on its own; you always review and check out yourself. We have not seen an account restricted for using Muvic. That said, automation of any kind is a gray area under most platforms' terms, which is why we keep the behavior conservative and transparent. See the Terms for the details on permitted use.
Is my data private?
See the full privacy policy for specifics. Here is the short version.
  • Beatport and Bandcamp credentials are encrypted at rest in your macOS Keychain and are never stored on our servers. When you start a sync, they travel encrypted in transit so the sync service can sign in on your behalf, and they're used only for actions you initiate.
  • Spotify connects through Spotify's official OAuth flow, so Muvic never sees your Spotify password.
  • Your Muvic account password is bcrypt-hashed and stored on our server (so you can sign in from the web too). We never see the plaintext.
  • Sync history (tracks, prices, dates) is stored server-side under your account so the Library page can render on any device. A local copy is mirrored to your Mac for offline browsing.
  • We don't sell data. The website uses HeyCatch analytics to measure how the site is used; the desktop app sends only the small set of first-party events listed in the privacy policy.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Pro subscriptions can be cancelled in one click via Lemon Squeezy. You keep Pro features through the end of the billing period. See the refund policy for details.
How does Muvic pick the right mix variant?
Muvic searches the store by artist and title, then compares the result titles and mix names against your playlist entry before adding anything. If you turn on Prefer Extended Mix in settings, Muvic adds the extended version whenever the store has one; otherwise it takes the closest title match. And because nothing is ever purchased automatically, your cart review is the final filter: the exact mix is right there next to the price before you check out.
What happens if Muvic matches the wrong track?
Nothing gets bought. Muvic only fills your cart or wishlist; you complete every purchase yourself on Beatport or Bandcamp. If a match looks wrong, remove it from the cart before checkout like any other item. Tracks Muvic is not confident about are flagged as not found rather than guessed at, and duplicates of things you already own or already have in your cart are skipped, not re-added.
Does Muvic match remixes and bootlegs?
Official remixes: yes, when the store sells them. The remixer is part of the title Muvic matches against, so "Artist - Track (Somebody Remix)" finds that remix, not the original. Bootlegs and unofficial edits are a different story: they usually are not for sale on Beatport or Bandcamp at all, so they come back as not found. With Pro you can save those misses to a playlist and hunt them down wherever you normally dig.
What match accuracy rate does Muvic achieve?
It depends on the playlist. Chart house and techno that lives on Beatport matches nearly every time; playlists heavy on unreleased music, bootlegs, or artists who only self-release will see more not-founds, because the store simply does not carry those tracks. We would rather be honest about that than quote one number. What we can promise is the design: a miss is flagged loudly instead of silently guessed, a wrong match costs you a cart-remove instead of money, and anything already in your cart or library is skipped.
Why does a track say "Already in your Beatport cart"?
Beatport hides the add-to-cart button for tracks that are already sitting in your cart, so a plain search cannot re-add them. Muvic snapshots your cart before a sync and labels those tracks "Already in your Beatport cart" instead of counting them as misses. It is the tool telling you an earlier sync already did the work; check out on Beatport and they are yours.
